Book Arts workshop, coming up!

Book Arts Workshop, The Peace Library – 6/24 (TOMORROW!)

There are a few spaces left for tomorrow night’s workshop! Learn a simple accordion fold book form, and explore its many manifestations. Participate in several exercises designed to generate ideas that can be incorporated into the books. The workshop encourages participation in the upcoming exhibit this September in ARTS Space Obispo. Suggested donation is $25. Limited to 12 students. Instructors: Melinda Forbes and Julie Frankel. Call (805) 544-9251 to sign up!

Please come with any of the following:
• Ideas for a book
• Collage materials
• Original artwork
• Cutting mat
• Bone folder
• Papers
• Pens and pencils
• Scissors
• Cutting blade
• Needle punch
• Glue sticks or your favorite adhesive
• Prepared text (poetry, prose, words)
• And any other supplies your might wish to use or share.

We will supply the following:
• Additional papers
• Binding needles
• Sample books
• Additional book binding tools
• Images
• Thread
• Completed books

Summer series of oil painting classes (with Laurel Sherrie)

Laurel has been giving private classes for several years, and announces the Summer Series of Oil Painting Classes, promising a relaxed atmosphere, nurturing to artists and the creative process. Limited to 10 students, for close attention and guidance. Young adults, adults and seniors welcome. Differing from a large class, each student gets personalized attention and works at their own level of skill. Lessons are 3-hours long once a week, for a four-week series in Arroyo Grande. Plein Air Classes will be in areas around the South County.


THURSDAYS, INDOOR CLASS TO LEARN AND REVIEW BASIC SKILLS.

Deadline to register is June 26th.

Any skill level is welcome, even those who have never picked up a brush.

Schedule: Thursdays: July 10, July 17, July 24, July 31. 2:30 – 5:30 P.M.

Fee: Four 3-hour classes, $160.00


SATURDAYS, “PLEIN AIR” CLASS.

Deadline to register is June 14th.

Have you wanted to try painting "plein air" but felt intimidated, didn't know what to bring, where to go, or what to do once you arrived? Learn how to get set up for success and paint "plein air" in oils or improve your outdoor painting.

Schedule: Saturdays. June 21, June 28, July 5, July 12. 2:30 – 5:30 P.M.
Fee: Four 3-hour classes, $160.00


A deposit of $80.00 is required to reserve your spot and to get your materials list. Remainder of payment is due before the first lesson.

Cancellation Policy: I will refund all money paid if you cancel within 7 days of start of class. It must be understood that people are turned away when class size reaches ten students. There must be a minimum of 3 students for the class to run.

Abstract Art Wanted at ART Zero

ART Zero's annual "Abstract Minded" art exhibit is considering all media.

Deliver Artwork: Tuesday June 3rd, 1 - 5 p.m. and Thursday June 5th 1 – 5 p.m.

Where: The Executive Gallery at The San Luis Business Center, 4251 S. Higuera, Suite 800, in SLO at Los Osos Valley Road.

How: Bring in original artwork or artwork from your personal collection, or email image files to Artzeroofficial@gmail.com, or drop off or mail images addressed to; ART Zero entry.

Exhibit Dates: June 7-27, with an artists’ reception from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, June 27th.
