Job Title: Program Director
Supervisor: Marta Peluso, Executive Director
Classification: At-will, exempt
Weekly Schedule: 10 AM to 4 PM, Monday – Friday
and meetings & events, as needed
Salary: $24,000 + $2,000 insurance stipend

Job Duties:


Under the direction of the Executive Director and members of the Board of Directors, the Program Director is responsible for overseeing ARTS Obispo’s programs. Inclusive in this responsibility are reviewing and adhering to established program methods, budgets and timelines. The Program Director drives committee agendas and deadlines, will attend monthly meetings and report back to the Executive Director on the activities of program committees. In addition, the Program Director is responsible for marketing ARTS Obispo’s programs by writing press releases, attending community events and developing new avenues of public relations.

ARTS Obispo’s Program Director must have a college undergraduate degree and good writing and organizational skills. There is much face to face and telephone contact with the public, thus candidates need to have excellent verbal communication skills. This position requires computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel Programs and requires the ability to move objects up to 30 pounds and to climb ladders. Some knowledge of website development is highly desired and candidates with an established history of commitment to the arts are preferred.

Specific duties include:

1. Create annual program development plan with assistance of Executive Director.

2. Determine program budgets and fundraising goals with assistance of Executive Director.

3. Drive agendas for and attend program committee meetings, including:

• Art After Dark
• Art in Public Places
• Open Studios Art Tour
• SLO Art Gallery Association
• SLOCAATS

4. Assist with ARTS Space Obispo events by helping to install and de-install exhibitions, and coordinate event receptions.

5. Coordinate monthly ad for Art After Dark galleries and venues.

6. Occasional writing contributions to ARTS Obispo News.

7. Assist Executive Director in planning Ruth Fash Memorial Lecture Series.

8. Coordinate annual Ingrid Reti Literary Grant.

9. Represent ARTS Obispo at marketing committee meetings of the SLO County Visitors &
Conference Bureau.

10. Be the staff liaison with the ARTS Obispo Board of Directors’ Volunteer Coordinator.
